My Story with GreenUp Uganda

It was such a great experiences everyday. I could see so passionate students to answer the questions about climate change and made it into the action to planting trees. Their actions, their curiosity, their knowledge. It will work not just only in Uganda, in the earth! Kids are always future. I could visited 3 schools and could see their brilliant eyes. There are always with hope. I hope we can keep their wonderful sprits as much as we can. It is the responsibility of adult. It was very short time though, full and deep moments were continuing still now. Experience is so strong into the heart. Even I go back home, Japan or still traveling any other countries, I'm still here in the same earth. This experience made me more lively my life. Thank you so much to have chance to those experiences and saw wonderful Enock and David!!! Hope to many people come to join this program!

My experience in Uganda was truly wonderful. Since it was my first time visiting Uganda, I felt a little anxious at first, but once I arrived, I found that people were incredibly friendly, and I was able to feel safe and comfortable. Life in the village was completely different from life in Japan. It was very simple, yet surrounded by animals and nature, I could enjoy the slow flow of time and feel a true richness of heart.

My Story with GreenUp Uganda

Tree planting was also a first-time experience for me, but the project staff kindly taught me everything—from how to grow trees from seeds to the different species of trees. Through this project, I was able to visit various schools, plant trees with children, and even give lessons. These were truly valuable experiences. Uganda may still appear green, but I was deeply impressed that people here are seriously thinking about environmental issues and taking concrete actions. Being part of this project also raised my own awareness about the environment.

What left the strongest impression on me was using a machete to cut grass in the forest and preparing the land so that trees could be planted. I experienced firsthand that restoring a forest requires steady work and takes a long time. I have great respect for the project staff, who dedicate themselves to this mission for the future, year after year.

Above all, their warm personalities made these two weeks so special. There was always laughter, and time passed so quickly. I truly want to continue supporting them from my heart.
